The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X is quickly building a reputation as one of the most fearsome performance cars on the planet. After stunning enthusiasts by defeating a Bugatti Chiron in a previous showdown, Chevrolet’s new hybrid hypercar seemed unstoppable. But recent encounters with EV heavyweights like the Lucid Air Sapphire and a tuned Tesla Model S Plaid reminded everyone that raw horsepower doesn’t always guarantee victory.
This time, however, the ZR1X faced a different kind of challenge: Italian exotic royalty.
In a new DragTimes video, Brooks Weisblat lined up the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X vs Ferrari SF90 Stradale, creating one of the most anticipated hybrid supercar matchups of the year.
On paper, the Corvette has a serious advantage. Its 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8 hybrid powertrain produces a staggering 1,250 horsepower, sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The American machine weighs approximately 4,100 pounds and carries a starting price of around $231,000.
The Ferrari SF90 Stradale is no slouch, though. Maranello’s plug-in hybrid supercar combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with three electric motors to produce 986 horsepower. It weighs about 3,950 pounds and costs roughly $750,000, more than three times the price of the Corvette.
From the very first drag race, it became clear that the Ferrari had its work cut out for it.

Both cars launched hard, staying neck-and-neck for the first few moments before the Corvette’s extra power began to show. The ZR1X steadily pulled away, eventually opening a gap of nearly three car lengths by the finish line. The Ferrari’s launch was impressive, but a slight loss of traction during an upshift gave the Corvette room to escape.
The second race followed a similar pattern. The SF90 actually jumped ahead off the line, but the Corvette’s relentless acceleration quickly reeled it back in before storming past. Despite posting impressive numbers, including a 2.52-second 0-60 mph run and a 9.82-second quarter-mile at 143 mph, the Ferrari simply couldn’t match the Corvette’s pace.
A third drag race delivered the same result.
The roll races weren’t much kinder to the Italian supercar. The ZR1X dominated the first run and only narrowly lost the second after giving the Ferrari a head start.
When the dust settled, the result was hard to ignore. The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X did more than beat a Ferrari SF90 Stradale. It reinforced its growing reputation as one of the fastest production cars ever built, and perhaps the biggest bargain in the hypercar world.
