In a stirring display of compassion and solidarity, the Subaru Owners Club of Eldoret (SOCE), in collaboration with Impreza Gand, Nairobi, on 11th October 2025, gave hope and concrete support to the tiny angels at Gracious Children’s Home in Langas, Eldoret. The two car enthusiast clubs united around a project close to their hearts – the construction of classrooms for the children at the home.
This is not the first time the Eldoret City car enthusiast club has organized a charity drive to bring smiles to less fortunate children in the community. If anything, it is their sixth charity event so far.
Although the classroom block project began in April, thanks to a generous donation of iron sheets by members of SOCE, the bulk of the structural materials were still needed. During the recent visit to the children’s home, the two motor enthusiast groups succeeded in donating foodstuffs, clothes, stationery, 40 bags of cement, over 15 tonnes of ballast, 15 tonnes of sand, and an assortment of construction materials.
Subaru Club committee team effort

Early in the morning of the event, committee members from the Subaru Owners Club of Eldoret gathered to assist with on-site logistics, transport materials, and prepare for what would eventually be a successful charity event.
As it stands, the management of the Charity home has granted full naming rights for the new classroom block, which was fully funded by the Subaru Owners Club of Eldoret. Consequently, the classroom block will be named after the motoring club (Subaru Owners Club-Eldoret).
The Charity event was a big success

The October 11th event was hailed as a big success by the organizers, with participants not only contributing funds, clothing, and food but also sacrificing their time, beloved eye-candy Subaru machines, resources, energy, and presence. As Isaac Kimutai, SOCE Chairman and proprietor of RBK Automotive Parts, put it during the introduction segment of the event, “You people not only contributed, but sacrificed your time, fuel, and energy to be physically present.”
The coordinator, Pastor Dan Njoroge, was beyond thankful for the visit and donations and gave a detailed history of Gracious Children’s Home, Eldoret, and how it serves the community.
“I want to thank the members of the Subaru Owners Club of Eldoret. The chairman has been here; he’s done his due diligence about us. The community here also knows about us and what we do here. And it is for that reason we get a lot of support from them, and Eldoret as a whole,” he confessed.
“It makes us happy when you take time to come here, because it lets us know that there are people out here who love us and care about us,” Evelyn Omondi, one of the coordinators of the children’s home, disclosed.
“This is our 6th Charity, and we have already done the 4th charity here. Therefore, you can see the love we have for this home because they have shown great accountability, and for that reason, we decided to come and complete the work we had started,” Edith Mutenyo, Chairlady of Subaru Owners Club of Eldoret, said in her opening speech at the event.
A child’s smile is the greatest reward of all

Special gratitude was expressed to Impreza Gang Nairobi for their logistical and material support, as well as to the Eldoret club leadership. In particular, Caleb Komen (aka “The Guru”) was singled out for his pivotal role in budgeting and sourcing of materials – a reminder that such projects demand as much planning and coordination behind the scenes as muscle on the ground.
Beyond the tangible contributions, the emotional impact of the day was clear – Subaru Owners Club of Eldoret as a whole had put smiles on children’s faces. And that in itself is the greatest reward of all. The event’s success has also emboldened the club to look forward to the much-anticipated Jinja Charity event that’s planned for 8th November 2025.
